What Is SCULPTRA?

SCULPTRA is a collagen biostimulator containing Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA), which supports the body’s natural production of new collagen.

Unlike conventional dermal fillers, SCULPTRA does not provide an immediate volumising effect. Instead, it works gradually to support the structure of the skin and underlying tissues, helping the face appear fuller, firmer, and naturally more youthful over time.

A course of approximately 2–3 sessions, spaced around 4–6 weeks apart, may generally be recommended. The number of sessions depends on the individual’s age, skin condition, and degree of collagen loss. Results may last for approximately two years.

Preparation Before Treatment

To support appropriate safety and treatment planning:

  • Inform the doctor about your medical history, underlying conditions, regular medications, supplements, and known allergies.
  • Avoid alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours before treatment.
  • Consult the doctor when taking medication or supplements that may affect blood clotting. Do not stop prescribed medication without medical advice.
  • Avoid treatments that may irritate the skin in the planned treatment area, according to the doctor’s recommendations.

Aftercare

Following SCULPTRA treatment, massage the treated area according to the 5-5-5 technique:

Massage for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 consecutive days, or as specifically instructed by the doctor.

Additional aftercare recommendations include:

  • Apart from the prescribed massage, avoid excessive touching, pressing, or rubbing of the treated area during the first 24 hours.
  • Avoid applying makeup for approximately 12–24 hours.
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot baths, and strenuous exercise for approximately 24–48 hours.
  • Maintain adequate hydration.
  • Mild swelling, redness, bruising, or tenderness may occur temporarily. Contact the doctor promptly when symptoms are severe, persistent, or concerning.

Expected Results

A temporary change in facial volume may be noticeable immediately after treatment due to the sterile water used to prepare the product. This effect generally decreases within a few days.

The body then gradually begins producing new collagen, helping the skin appear firmer, more elastic, and naturally refreshed. More noticeable changes may develop within approximately one to three months, and results may last for around two years.
