What Is Dual Yellow Laser?

Dual Yellow is an innovative laser technology that combines two laser wavelengths in a single treatment.

The first is a 578-nanometre yellow laser, which targets small blood vessels and may help reduce the appearance of redness, generally without causing open wounds or significant bruising.

The second is a 511-nanometre green laser, which targets pigment in the upper layers of the skin. It may help brighten the appearance of the complexion and reduce visible dullness and pigmentation.

When these two wavelengths are used together, they may help improve skin radiance and reduce the appearance of melasma, dark spots, redness, red birthmarks, and visible small blood vessels.

At appropriately selected energy levels, the laser may also be used to treat certain benign skin lesions. Dual Yellow also incorporates Fast Edge MicroPulse technology, which may support collagen production and help improve the appearance of fine lines.

What Skin Concerns May Dual Yellow Help Address?

Dual Yellow may be considered for:

  • Dull or uneven-looking skin and enlarged-looking pores
  • Fine lines
  • Freckles and melasma
  • Redness and visible blood vessels, including post-acne redness, cherry angiomas, red birthmarks, and facial capillaries
  • Inflammatory acne
  • Dark or red marks and scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Skin that becomes red easily
  • Certain skin tags, moles, and benign skin lesions, following a doctor’s assessment

Is Dual Yellow Laser Safe?

By combining two laser wavelengths, Dual Yellow can address both vascular and pigment-related concerns. The treatment settings can be adjusted according to the individual’s skin type and condition, allowing it to be considered for a wide range of skin tones.

Side effects are generally temporary and uncommon when treatment is performed with appropriate settings. Individual suitability should be assessed by a doctor before treatment.

Recommended Number of Sessions

The recommended number of sessions depends on the type and severity of the skin concern, as well as the doctor’s assessment.

For concerns such as acne, dull-looking skin, or melasma, an initial course of at least five sessions, spaced approximately two weeks apart, may be recommended. The treatment plan may be adjusted according to individual response.

Aftercare Following Dual Yellow Laser

  • The treated area may appear slightly pink or red after the procedure. This generally subsides within approximately 30 minutes to one hour.
  • Light crusting may occasionally occur. Avoid picking, scratching, or rubbing the area.
  • Avoid facial scrubs, exfoliating treatments, and products that may irritate the skin for at least one week.
  • Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB with SPF 30 or higher, and avoid strong sunlight for at least one week.
  • Makeup may generally be applied as usual unless otherwise advised by the doctor.
  • Fine lines, dark spots, and redness may gradually improve following treatment.
